Juried Exhibits 2016
Open Call Registration
The fifth annual SPARK Photo Festival is scheduled for April 1 to April 30, 2017. Registration is based upon an Open Call for Photographic Exhibit. It's also Canada's 150th anniversary of Confederation as well as the 100th anniversary of the First World War. Registration Deadline: January 10, 2017
The theme of SPARK’s 2017 annual juried exhibit is Framed. Framing the subject is a standard technique in photographic composition, although the number ways in which you can accomplish this is almost unlimited. Deadline for submitting is February 1, 2017
SPARK 2017 will be a thought-provoking year for exhibit visitors. From the initial tentative, loosely organized exhibits of our inaugural year in 2013, the quality of work has grown confident, the points of view diverse, the presentation more professional and inspired, with photographers tackling new subjects and themes, often with complicated technical challenges and increasing contextual complexity. 2017 will mark SPARK's 5th Anniversary as a Photo Festival.
2017 SPARK Showcase Exhibit, the Loss of Innocence: The Birth of a Nation: Remembering 1917 and the Great War. In 2017, Canadians will mark the 150th anniversary of Confederation. It will also be a time to remember the 100th anniversary of significant World War 1 battles, most notably those at Vimy ridge (April 9 -12, 1917) and Passchendaele (November 1017)
SPARK’s Emerging Artist/Curator Exhibit in many ways “grew up” last year. In 2017, our emerging curator will be Erin Burke, SPARK's co-op intern from the U of Vic Visual Arts.
A juried exhibit ensures only the highest quality work is selected for exhibit. The exhibit to be titled Framed, will be on display during SPARK 2017, April 1 to April 30, at a prominent venue.
