Kawartha Photographers Guild is a group of photographers from all walks of life who are interested in the art of high quality photographic printmaking. In a non-competitive structure, intended to foster creativity and a standard of excellence, the Guild caters to those who need to satisfy a creative need.

Guild meetings provide an outlet where members can commune with others who share their passion and are a source not only of inspiration and fellowship but also of a free exchange of experience and applied knowledge. At monthly meetings members present their work and have a frank exchange of opinions where the perceived strengths and weaknesses of the print are identified and discussed. Opinions may be accepted or rejected by the maker but by their very expression, the comments become a source of learning.

The nuances of photography and photographic print making are many and varied. All who take up the creative challenge are acutely aware that there is always another technique to be learned, and that perfection is always just beyond reach.

The reasons “why we do it” may be many and varied, but there is one over-riding reason – members derive, and hopefully give, a great deal of satisfaction and pleasure from the creation and production of their works. They also enjoy the friendly stimulation and encouragement so freely given by their peers.
