SPARK Photo Festival Update March 2024
The SPARK Photo Festival is a celebration of photography, and the artists, dreamers, innovators, storytellers, professionals and enthusiasts behind the camera lens. April 2024 brings the 11th annual festival with photographic exhibits popping up in locations throughout Peterborough city and county, Northumberland county and the City of Kawartha Lakes regions. Technical workshops, lectures, talks, films, and other related photographic events and activities take place year-round as well as during the festival.
We bring 26 new photographic exhibits for you to explore this April with works from over 100 photographers! There are 24 Open Call Exhibits to experience, in shops, cafes, libraries, retirement residences, community centres and more! Visit the Exhibits 2024 page to see the lists, read about the photographers and see sample images. Then, pick up a print brochure at one of the exhibit venues, visit our Interactive Map and download the Toureka! mobile app to plan your SPARK touring. SPARK Signature Exhibits: Our two Signature Exhibits will be displayed at the YMCA Balsillie Family Branch, Peterborough.
Light the SPARK: Emerging Artists Exhibit - discover 5 area artists and their work, being shown to the public for the very first time. This program and exhibit is generously funded by: Bellwether Family Wealth – Weichel & Associates, Griffin’s Greenhouses, Pearle Vision Peterborough and Stoneguide Realty Ltd. Themed Juried Exhibit "Textures" the 25 photographic images selected by the jury from submissions from photographers from across Ontario. The exhibit opens April 1st and the award-winning images will be announced on Sunday, April 7th at the Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony, then online afterward.
