During the past year I have become interested in Infrared Black and White photography. My theme for SPARK 2022 will consist of a series of infrared b&w landscape and cityscape images. Infrared light rays are all around us but they can’t be seen by the human eye. Digital cameras have filters that are used to block infrared light but using a specific lens filter allows the infrared light to be recorded by the camera’s sensor. The resulting image is very red and dark but can be processed and converted to a black and white image. I look forward to sharing my images once again.

I became interested in photography in the late 60's and was hooked. I went on to study Photography at Humber College. I was employed in the photo industry working at City TV, and at the CBC on the National News service. This will be my 8th year with SPARK and I would like to thank the Peterborough Library for giving me another opportunity to display my work.
Steve Brittain, Toronto
Photography is an essential part of my self expression. Participating in the SPARK Photo Festival over the years has provided a great opportunity for me to share with others how I see the world from behind the lens. Post processing often adds a twist or more clarity to the original image that I may or may not have imagined in the original shot. I hope you enjoy this year’s offering.
Ralph Colley, Selwyn
Mostly I will show images of trees this year. However, I’m a long-time SPARK participant and by now my fans will have come to expect a few surprises. More than anything, I am still a nature lover who enjoys photography and sharing images with the broader community.
