Exhibit Title: Life by Bike

Life by Bike is a collection of images documenting the various ways that bikes have found places within the lives of local community members.

At GreenUP, we hear stories of life by bike from children attending Pedal Power, adults taking part in Shifting Gears, and from those who come out to Bike Night. Their stories are diverse! Some ride for practical, recreational, or even professional reasons, and the collection will highlight how bikes are used for sport, leisure, fitness, commuting, social time with family and friends, and more.

As you dig a little deeper into Life by Bike, however, you will notice that the true reasons people are choosing life by bike are much more simple and personal. They show us how riding a bike for some means ease and convenience for a morning commute, while another depicts the challenge and satisfaction of a bit more speed or control. Some photos reflect a special connection to nature and community, and others catch the glimpse of happiness and freedom, echoing the joy that one may feel when buzzing down a trail with the wind in their face.

The images come from those who have chosen to build their life around their bike, and those who have incorporated a bicycle into their lives. We see and hear these stories so often, and are very happy to be able to share them with you this year with the help of SPARK Photo Festival.
