There are thousands of reasons why people take photographs. For some, it’s a career. For others, it’s a way of expression, an art form. For others yet again, they might document something monumental like a world war, or maybe something simple like a family photo. Taking a photograph is an act of capturing light. The moment is frozen, available for all time to be viewed again and again. The invention of the camera changed the face of art making. Photographs became a new mode of expression. With new technology, taking a picture has become a very easy thing to do. The face of photography has embraced further changes. We can document our lives with the touch of a button. It is evident by looking at the variety of work in this exhibit, that what drives the photographer to take a photograph is a deeply personal decision. A photograph documents having been somewhere, having been with someone, and having seen something. It marks our place in the world. It marks our vision and thoughts about the world. We, the next generation of image-makers, are wildly committed to living our lives. What you see is what we are. We are thrilled to share our photographs with you.
