What's a Photo Walk?

This group event will take you on an exploration of a nature trail in the City of Peterborough to explore, experience and capture photos under the guidance of  photographer and naturalist, Keith Manser. Learn new photography skills to enhance your nature experiences through your viewfinder. This photo walk will be a casual, hands-on format where participants can ask questions as they explore and experience nature, and hopefully some wildlife (if the wildlife participates!).

This walk will be on groomed, but not paved, trails with moderate physical activity. Participants must be prepared and capable of a 1-1/2 hour walk.

This SPARK Photo Festival Event is free to attend.
Advance registration is required. Click the blue button below to register

Details:
- Exact meeting location will only be revealed to registered attendees.
- In the case of severe weather being forecasted, we will reschedule, making the decision on Wednesday, April 24th.
- If the spaces fill up, we will add another date!

While we walk, Keith will cover topics such as:

  • The ethics of nature photography: how to respect wildlife while still getting "the shot";
  • What to look for and where!;
  • Managing light conditions on the trail;
  • Two methods of discovery.

About our guide:

Keith Manser immigrated to Canada in 1968. From the moment of his arrival, he has had a love affair with Canadian landscapes, nature and wilderness. Being a Fish and Wildlife Technician, an avid outdoorsman and a photographer, provides Keith with the tools and insights to find his wildlife and landscape subjects. To quote Keith, “Sitting in a blind, listening to the sounds of nature and watching for that magical moment when I can capture an intimate image, is my heaven”.
